Crums on Central

If you’re looking for an warm setting and great food, Crums on Central is the place to go.

This locally owned treasure is tucked away in the Summerville neighborhood. They serve lunch Tuesday through Friday, dinner Tuesday through Sunday, and brunch on Saturday and Sunday. They have a variety of delicious appetizers and entrées  ranging from Crab Cakes and Crummy Fries to wood fire pizza, Shrimp and Grits, Chicken Florentine, and Fried Quail.

I have been for dinner and loved it and had lunch there other day with a coworker and some of our volunteers. I had the Crummy Fries which came with bacon, parmesan, feta cheese, and Crum’s pesto ailoi. They were to die for!

My coworker and I had the bacon cheddar burger and I added a fried egg to mine. One of the volunteers had the crab cakes and the other had the catfish po-boy. The service is wonderful and the owner and general manager were very accommodating. I can’t wait to try their brunch!

Planning a Wedding in Augusta, Georgia

I recently got married in my hometown of Augusta, GA. While planning a wedding takes lots of time, and can be stressful-it was worth it in the end!

There are so many places to choose from to get married in Augusta. The city offers many churches, downtown venues, historic sites, hotels, and even an old firehouse. My family hosted my bridal brunch at the beautiful and historic Partridge Inn. This is a Southern hotel that dates back 100 years and is still the splendor of the South!

We decided to have our rehearsal dinner at Enterprise Mill, located downtown on the Augusta Canal. This was the perfect place to enjoy the historic mill, while also enjoying the sites of the canal.

We chose the church I grew up in, The Hill Baptist Church, located in Summerville, for the ceremony site. Last, we decided on The River Room located on the Savannah River in historic St Paul’s Church for our reception site. We wanted to incorporate as many features that Augusta has to offer.

There are also many wonderful vendors to choose from when deciding who to use for your caterer, cake, flowers, band/DJ, photographer/videographer, wedding dress/tux, gifts for your attendants and everything else! Also, here at the Augusta CVB we can help you with reserving hotel rooms for your out of town guests at a discounted rate, and help with locating a venue for any of your wedding events.

So, if you or someone you know is thinking about getting married here in Augusta, the opportunities are endless and I can assure you, you will be happy with any choice here in Augusta. Happy Wedding Planning!!!

Date Night in Augusta

Recently my husband and I celebrated our 11th Wedding Anniversary and were looking for a nice place to enjoy a “date,” together.  It was actually a hard decision because Augusta has so many great local places to eat, over 300 locally owned restaurants to be exact.  We decided on Crums on Central which is a fairly new restaurant in town.  It was very good!

Crums is uniquely located in the historic Summerville Hill neighborhood district which is on the National Register of Historic places.  Central Avenue, where you’ll find Crums, is one of the most beautiful streets in the area because it’s lined with grand old homes, separated by a median with beautiful landscaping and just has a feel of true Southern Hospitality.   Since we were celebrating a momentous occasion we splurged a little and had lots to eat!  We started our dinner with the Fried Calamari which, when dipped in the marina sauce or cocktail sauce was very yummy!  We also split a bottle one of their many Pinot Noir selections, and corked it and took it home when we didn’t finish it.  That’s an added value!  I had the salmon which was pan seared and served with peppered grits and broccollini, my husband had the Baked North Georgia Trout topped with fried oysters and Béarnaise sauce over rice. He loved it, because there was not a CRUM left on his plate!

After dinner we decided to go to another one of our favorite spots to enjoy the night a bit longer, Rae’s Coastal Café.  Another uniquely located restaurant, Rae’s is nestled inside the Forest Hills Racquetball Club and neighborhood.  As you might guess by its name it has a very coastal, casual feel to it.  You’ll find hard wooden floors, a giant fish tank, and fish nets hanging from the ceiling.  The crowd here is always very friendly and happy to meet a new  friend.  Rae’s has a great menu as well.  One of my favorite things there is the Rae’s Famous House Salad.  Served on a cold pewter plate with fresh greens, special house dressing, croutons, and parmesan cheese, it’s a lot like the famous Green Jacket Salad.   We had a great night celebrating 11 years of wedding bliss in our hometown of Augusta, GA.  Hope you’ll come check it out too!

Crum's on Central

I believe this restaurant is the best kept secret in town! On the weekends, enjoy a tasty brunch menu at Crums on Central Ave. This is located between downtown and historic Summerville in Augusta. This one of a kind restaurant offers a great selection of menu items to choose from. Make sure you try their mouth watering homemade biscuits and French toast…I personally love it and think that you will not be disappointed!

Visit Partridge Inn for a Great Southern Meal

Looking for a true Southern meal with a Southern atmosphere? Check out The Partridge Inn, located in the historic Summerville section of Augusta. The Verandah Grille located here is where you will discover Southern breakfast and lunch buffets. This restaurant also features dinner serving steaks, seafood, and burgers. Lunch is my personal favorite here! Their hand dipped fried chicken and sweet tea will make you only want to come back for more!
