Antonio’s Pizza Doesn’t Disappoint!

Recently my mom introduced me to Antonio’s Italian Eatery. It’s about 5 minutes from downtown Augusta over the river in North Augusta.

You’ll recognize it from the cute red and white striped canopy shading the front entrance.

We went for lunch and ordered a White Pizza – garlic, olive oil, spinach and tomatos – and we were NOT disappointed!

The regular crust is perfectly salty, bready and a little crunchy. The toppings tasted fresh and flavorful. Since we ordered a 14 inch pizza, it took slightly longer than if we had ordered single slices, but having leftovers to take home for dinner made the wait TOTALLY worth it!

Inside was cool, clean and simply decorated and our server was very helpful.

I plan on going back very soon to try their slice specials, which are super affordable and seem perfect for lunch!

Say It Out Loud, I’m Mellow and I’m Proud

Recently I tried the Mellow Mushroom in downtown Augusta for the first time. If you’re hungry at this moment, then don’t worry. I’m gunna keep things short and sweet so you can go eat at Mellow Mushroom too!

Top 5 Reasons why Mellow Mushroom is awesome:

1. Bruschetta is betta with Feta. I’m a tomato lover. I’m also a carb lover. And a cheese lover. Give me tomatoes, fresh basil and feta on bread and I’m in heaven. Try it and you will be too.

2. Hummus. This was my first experience with hummus. I was a little skeptical about something made out of mashed up chickpeas, but boy was I wrong. After eating almost all of it, I felt the need to write an equation that would demonstrate my newfound feelings. Hummus + Pita Bread = True Love

3. Atmosphere.  I think I should mention that it looks like a hippie exploded in the restaurant. Bright colors, retro flowers, a HUGE mushroom in the middle of the room. It’s fun and relaxing. And if my Uncle Tony were to walk into the room he might say (in his best hippie voice) This is so rad, maaaaaan. Right on.

4. Service. Our server was perfect. She was friendly, quick to fill our drinks and very helpful.

5. Location. I love downtown Augusta. It’s where I work and where I like to play. Stop by for Trivia Night on Tuesdays, after a GreenJackets or Riverhawks game, or before you head out for a night on the town.

Grab a pizza and a movie

The perfect date night-or night with friends! My husband and I recently went on a pizza/movie date night. We headed over the Augusta Exchange Shopping Center one Friday evening. We decided that we would check out Roma’s Pizza right across from the Regal Cinemas movie Theater. We each ordered a slice(which is the size of two normal slices) of the New York style pizza with our favorite topping, ordered drinks, and it was under $10! The pizza was fresh and tasted great! This place gets crowded quick-but it was still easy to get our food and grab a table.

After enjoying our tasty and cheap pizza, we headed over to Regal Cinemas to check out a movie. This was a fun date for us that we really enjoyed! There are also many other restaurants near the theater if you are looking for dinner and a movie. Nearby is, The Carolina Ale House, Logan’s, Chili’s, O’Charlie’s, Macaroni Grill and even Chick-fil-la! So, depending on what type of mood you’re in, there are many great places to eat before heading to the movies! Also, next to Roma’s Pizza is a new frozen yogurt place, Tutti Frutti, which looks delicious! There are many great places to check out in Augusta for a date night, or night out with friends!

Giuseppe’s Pizza & Italian Specialties

If you are in the mood for delicious Italian food in Augusta, you should check out Giuseppe’s Pizza on Wheeler Road.  Giuseppe’s is a local favorite, so if you stop by at lunch, be prepared for it to be a little busy.  During the week they have one of the best pizza lunch buffets in town, reasonable prices and a ton of fresh, delicious pizza, pasta and breadsticks.  Unless you have incredible willpower, you will walk out after your meal completely stuffed!

One of my favorite dishes at Giuseppe’s is the Cannelloni-pasta filled with beef,  Italian sausage, and cheese, covered in meat sauce and baked with mozzarella cheese on top.  Although, you can’t go wrong with the baked ziti in meat sauce, either.  The portions are great, so I always have a little bit of leftovers to take home and enjoy for my next meal.  There are so many tasty looking meals on the menu that I will definitely have to visit again soon!

Mellow Mushroom

One of my favorite lunch spots in downtown Augusta is the Mellow Mushroom! Not only do they have the best pizza in town in my opinion, they offer great service and a quick lunch menu.

I usually get the slice and salad offered on their lunch menu.  This is the best of both worlds-a treat and something healthy. It’s one of the best cheap, quick lunches in town! I also enjoy the garlic pretzels with marinara sauce. They come straight to your table warm from the oven and drizzled with a little bit of Parmesan and butter, and they’re so good!

Whether you have little time, or as much time as you want, make sure to pay Mellow Mushroom a visit! Enjoy!!
